My Go-To Holiday Gifts

My mother was an expert gift wrapper, and I inherited her love of presenting gifts beautifully. I also have fun selecting what goes inside those wrapping papers, and I’ve developed a list of go-to gifts that are ideal to have on hand during the holidays. Whether for family members, friends, neighbors, or party hosts, here’s what I always have on hand to give away.

Hibiscus Vases
The perfect gift for just about anyone! These vases suit every style of decor and are both striking yet understated.

Old St. Nick Limited Edition Plate
Our flagship holiday collection truly sparks joy, and I buy a few of each year's limited edition pieces to give away. It's impossible not to be charmed by the singing Babbo Natale and pooch! https://www.vietri.com/collections/old-st-nick/products/old-st-nick-2023-limited-edition-rectangular-plate

Books
I love supporting authors and giving books as gifts. Of course, I’ve recently been giving many copies of Italy on a Plate! I also love giving people my friend Frances Mayes’s new book, A Place in the World. https://www.amazon.com/Italy-Plate-Travels-Memories-Menus/dp/173211336X https://www.amazon.com/Place-World-Finding-Meaning-Home/dp/0593443330

Ortigia
Whenever I am in Florence, I stop by Ortigia. The owner, Sue Thompson, is a friend of mine, and she has built an incredible business with the best-smelling products and the most exquisite packaging. The soaps are wrapped in brightly colored, punchy prints, and they feel really special. https://www.ortigiasicilia.com/en/

Incanto Amore Plate
So sweet. I love giving this handmade plate to anyone who is newly engaged, recently married, or just needs a little reminder that they are loved. https://www.vietri.com/collections/incanto/products/incanto-white-amore-plate

Italian Paper
For me, nothing compares to handmade Italian writing paper. There’s a store in Cortona that I visit every time I’m there, and I stock up on packs of notecards and notebooks to give away to friends and family.
